Paint Your Own Pottery in Chester

Your piece, your way

Choose from hundreds of pottery pieces and create something completely your own. Pieces from £18. You paint it; we glaze and kiln-fire it, ready for you to collect.

How it works

  1. Book or walk in

Book your table online (recommended at weekends and in school holidays), or just walk in – walk-ins are welcome, subject to availability.

  2. Choose your piece

Pick from hundreds of bisque pieces on our shelves: mugs, plates, bowls, figurines and seasonal favourites. Pieces from £18.

  3. Paint & relax

Paint at your own pace with coffee, pizza or a milkshake from our café. A café table booking is two hours, in the available slots.

  4. We glaze & fire

Leave your masterpiece with us. We glaze and kiln-fire it and email you when it’s ready to collect.

Good to know

  • Walk-ins welcome (subject to availability). Online booking is recommended, especially at weekends and in school holidays.
  • Same day: you can use foam clay or acrylic paint and take the piece home the same day. Glaze and kiln firing, above, is for bisque pottery left with us.
  • Pre-authorised no-show fee £5 per person – only taken if you don’t show up without cancelling. It is not a deposit and does not come off your bill on the day.
  • No outside drinks in the daytime studio – we offer teas, coffees, soft drinks and milkshakes. (Our evening BYOB events are the exception – see What’s On.)
  • Prepaid pottery is held for a maximum of 2 weeks. Pottery not completed during your reservation goes back on the shelf, and 50% of the price is kept as a holding fee, with the other 50% refunded.
  • Friendly dogs are welcome too – house-trained and on a lead.

Firing & collection

Ready when the kiln says so

Once you’ve painted your piece we glaze it and fire it in our kiln, which turns your colours glossy and makes it last.

How long it takes: about 4 weeks for glazing and firing. Once it’s ready, we’ll keep your finished pottery for 2 weeks.

Please wait for your collection email; it will explain the next steps for collecting your pottery.
